West Elm Emeryville
A ground-up, phased project within the Bay Street Shopping Center, along the Emeryville Shellmound. The building features a green roof planted with native shrubbery and drought-resistant flora, a “butterfly” roof, and thoughtfully considered façades and volumes to optimize visibility from Highways 80 and 580. The project required extensive study on the effects of traffic patterns for the neighborhood, views from street level and up above from highways, understanding of how a layered living roof works on a curved roof structure.
